11am
Glenn Jenkins: Organise, Occupy, Produce
This talk will present the background to the activities of the Leviticus (formerly Exodus) Collective, the Marsh Farm Outreach team and the Organisation Workshop project in Luton, Bedfordshire. A story of mass mobilisations to reclaim lands and properties (by all non violent means necessary) to build sustainable communities and an alternative way of life in Luton - from the grassroots. The Leviticus (formerly Exodus) Collective are a Luton based Sound System and Social Movement who see "Leaving Babylon" as re-building our community on the principles of oneness, sharing and co-operation, instead of those of greed, competition and hoarding which underpin the "Babylon System"(aka capitalism). So, we re-claim disused lands and properties in our home town to create our own tribal dances, free festivals, workplaces and homes...building an alternative "way of life" right here in Luton.
Marsh Farm Outreach is a self managed workers co-operative of 13 Marsh Farm residents all working (mainly in a voluntary capacity) to design, develop, promote, and fight for innovative, community led solutions to poverty, social exclusion and dependency. In practice our activities are wide ranging and varied and include (naming a few): Organising not for profit community dances and music festivals • Orchestrating awareness raising campaigns to prevent public/ private agencies riding roughshod over our civil /human /community rights • Drawing up business plans with proposers of not for profit community businesses • Overcoming red tape and other barriers to inclusion, community enterprise, localised contracting etc • Research and develop 'from the grassroots' community building projects
Glenn Jenkins is a member of the 'Leviticus Collective' and "Marsh Farm Outreach". As a long term resident of the Marsh Farm Estate in Luton, Bedfordshire he has 25 years first hand experience of life in one of the Eastern regions so called 'most deprived communities'. He is officially 'unemployed' (and has been for many of these years) and describes himself as a Community Development Activist.

Robert Verkerk - Codex Alimentariuss, the global control of our food supply—and what we can do about it!
Are you old enough to remember buying your fruit and veg at the local greengrocer in a brown paper bag? And your bread at the local baker? Find out how in a matter of a few decades food distribution and supply systems have radically altered, forcing most to do the vast majority of their shopping in one of a small number of hypermarkets, each bringing in produce from all over the world, much of which is nutritionally inadequate. Dr Robert Verkerk, founder of the Alliance for Natural Health, will explain how and why the global control of the food supply by corporations and governments through the UN's Codex Alimentarius is affecting our lives, our health and our society. Most importantly he'll talk about practical ways in which individuals and communities can work together to regain control of our food and our health.
Dr Robert Verkerk BSc MSc DIC PhD, Executive and Scientific Director of the Alliance for Natural Health is an internationally-acclaimed expert in sustainability, with 25 years of experience particularly in the areas of agriculture and healthcare. He has a Masters Degree and Doctorate from Imperial College London, where he also worked as a Postdoctorate Research Fellow for 7 years. He has extensive international experience, having worked especially in Asia, Africa, Europe, Australasia and North and Central America. He has acted as an advisor to governments but has always maintained strong connections with the NGO sector. Dr Verkerk founded the ANH in 2002 and has been its Scientific and Executive Director ever since. Contact: Alliance for Natural Health - 01306 646600 - www.anhcampaign.org

Mark Sanders-Barwick - Sea Shepherd - 30 years on the frontline
In its 32 years, Sea Shepherd has rammed and disabled over a dozen whaling and illegal fishing vessels on the high seas, and scuppered others in ports by sneaking aboard and opening valves to let in seawater, and on one occasion by blowing holes in the hulls with limpet mines. Other tactics include fouling propellers with entangling lines, hurling aboard nausea-inducing stink bombs and cellulose powder to make the decks slippery, and direct high-speed ramming. This presentation and film will focus on the organisations history and motives.
Mark Sanders-Barwick is the volunteer and outreach co-ordinator for Sea Shepherd in the UK. Mark is also a Marine Mammal Medic for British Divers Marine Life Rescue as well as a Marine Mammal Surveyor for Organisation Cetacea. He is a keen scuba diver, active within the Green Party of England & Wales and was formerly London Regional Secretary for the Shark Trust.

John Harris - Lawful Rebellion
“Magna Carta is such a fellow, he will have no sovereign.”– Sir Edward Coke. John Harris read the Magna Carta and saw that it was good. So good in fact that he decided to make honest use of it. Particularly article 61. Article 61 is the longest and most powerful of the clauses within Magna Carta of 1215. It proved so unpalatable to subsequent monarchs that when Magna Carta was craftily re-draughted in 1297, article 61 was not to be found. But one man’s unpalatable article is another man’s invite to freedom. Enter John Harris, Public Defender and committed common law practitioner. Making use of Article 61, his recent visit to Buckingham Palace began his process of filing for redress of grievances. John Harris is a pioneer of the freeman movement, which is reclaiming our common law to live peacefully in this country without interference from the state - see video of recent presentation http://www.tpuc.org/node/558.
