Programme 2009: Club Room

11am
Anjali (Hansmukh Kaur) - Kundlini Yoga
Awaken to your true potential with Kundalini Yoga! This is an ancient system of self mastery which supports the development of our total possibility. During this workshop we will do a kriya (set of exercises) that will connect us with the sun energy that is within ourselves. This energy allows us to be more energetic, expressive, extroverted and enthusiastic. Come along, have an experience and set yourself up perfectly for the rest of the festival!
Anjali (Hansmukh Kaur) teaches Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan (KRI certified) and Shakti Dance. Anjali brings a sense of joy and openness to her classes and focuses on allowing people to come into an awareness of the deep silence and joy that is always present within. As we access this silence through yoga and dance we connect with the true nature of our existence, enabling us to go beyond the stresses placed on us by modern day living.

Justin Hoffman: Laughter Workshop
Go on have a laugh... it might just do you good. Even a forced smile can work wonders - a good laugh is a natural tonic, and it is often therapeutic to laugh for no reason. We should forget the dreadful weather and pressures of life – and look at ourselves in the mirror (“that’s a laugh for a start”) and have a good chortle. Look forward to having a laugh with Justin in this practical workshop: monkeylaugh2004@yahoo.co.uk

Chris Paradox - The Meaning of Life...It's up to YOU!!!
An Entertaining Engaging Empowering Exploration of the Inspirational Idea that life has no meaning except the meaning you give it!
Since becoming a Performance Poet, Compare, Speaker and Workshop facilitator in 2002 I have explored and experimented with a wide range self & planet empowering, practices, systems, models and lifestyles. Since almost dying and losing my leg last year, these ways of being have been put to the ultimate test...and most were found wanting. This real time, real world separating of the "wheat from the chaff" has led to a distillation of and focusing on the core experiencial and existential truths that have empowered me...and I feel can empower others...to live a more deeply meaningful life.

Gita Sootarsing - Biodanza
Biodanza is an amazing international dance system that will reconnect you to your heart and inner wisdom, open the gateway to bonding with others, whilst liberating your body - unleash the real YOU!!!. I discovered Biodanza in 2001, through a friend. She knew of my commitment to growth and my love of dance and invited me to a class. I fell in love with it straightaway. It made such a huge difference to my life that teaching it became an imperative. My Biodanza training has taken place in many cities, Rio de Janeiro, Paris, Amsterdam, Milan, Brussels as well as London. I am a "tutor" teacher which means I can mentor students currently in training to be teachers. In addition to the core system, I am qualified to teach the specialisms such as Biodanza and the Four Elements, and the Minotaur Project which works with the shadow. In addition to regular public classes at The Place, Euston, I also run public and corporate workshops. I have taught at residential summer schools and Festivals, as well as the International Congress abroad. One of my workshops was filmed by Channel five for a programme on stressed out executives! I have demonstrated at all the major shows in London ie, Mind Body Spirit, Mind Body Soul, Vitality Show, and Yoga show.

Maya (Haripal) - Discovering Meditation in Movement
Known as 'the yoga of dance' or the dance of awareness, this contemporary dance form incorporates aspects of kundalini yoga, chi gung, tai chi and various dance styles into a spiritual fusion and feminine flowing movement practice called Shakti Dance.
Physically, Shakti Dance improves balance, alignment, flexibility and grace. Energetically, it cleanses the pranic body and assists with physical union (yoga) and mental liberation (moksha) of the soul impulse. The theme behind this one hour workshop will be about meditation in movement. The aim will be to connect to deep meditative states through conscious movement; locating an inner stillness through dance and also connecting with the ever-present dance of life through a state of stillness. As we access inner silence through yoga and dance, we come into an awareness of the deep silence and joy that is always present within, connecting us with the true nature of the Human Being. Come along to feel the flow; and Be the Flow. No yoga or dance experience necessary; only an open mind and an open heart is required.
Shakti Dance has evolved from Kundalini Yoga, founded by Sara Avtar Olivier, with the blessing of Yogi Bhajan. Maya Metcalfe(Haripal Kaur) studied with Sara Avtar in Italy last year, and is now teaching regular Shakti Dance sessions in South London. Maya has trained in ballet for 12 years, and has also practiced various dance styles over the years. Shakti Dance found Maya when she started Kundalini Yoga 3 years ago, and the profound and amazing effect this dance has had in her life is evident and ongoing. Apart from dancing being her main inspiration, Maya is also an accomplished musician, singer and songwriter who writes, records and performs her own music. Her overall aim is to move people's hearts with the combined passions of dance and music, creating a powerful healing and consciousness-raising experience, and providing upliftment for the collective human experience.
