Programme 2009: Tower Room 2

11am
Mary Fee - Community Currencies and "Lets Play LETS"
After a theoretical run-through of Altruism, LETS, (Local Exchange Trading Systems and Schemes), Timebanks, and Local Currencies, participants will be able to view a copy of the first ever Festival Energy Exchange note (which is being launched by presenting it to volunteers at this festival). We will then go into "Lets Play LETS", where we show by a game rather like speed-dating how a community can create a currency themselves without having to go to the bank. Members of the group will choose whether to use cheques, timesheets or printed currency to record transactions, and afterwards we will tot up our scores to find out who has become richer or poorer in the process. Prepare to learn lots, have fun, and make some useful connections.
Mary runs the Pathways Network, networking information at the Mind Body Spirit Festival from 1988 to 2008, and has seen its evolution from print to web. She now also works with Festival of Life on admin and systems. She was co-founder of LETSlink London in 1993, became a trustee of LETSlink UK in 1998, co-ran "LETS Co-operate" at Conway Hall in 2002, ran an event currency at the European Social Forum at Conway Hall in 2004, introduced the concept of the Integrated Community Currency as WSFII in 2005, and co-presented a workshop on Localising the Economy at the September 2009 conference of the Development Trusts Association. She is currently involved in teaching LETS organisers and CSVOs how to make use of web-based systems. She aims to support the introduction of community currencies into networks of people who share common concerns, such as Festival-goers. She has been keeping updated as best she can since the year 2000 the UK-map of local schemes.

Phil Stebbing - Creating a Lifeline for the Future
Founder of the Lifeline Global Initiative Phil Stebbing will outline the ways people are able to switch to sustainable ways of living. During the talk participants will be asked to form their own "Lifelines" while in a circle using rope and string to show how through cooperation we can start to make changes to create a matrix for a more sustainable future for All Life on Earth.
For 20 years Phil Stebbing has been making documentaries for Nat Geo, Discovery and British broadcasters. Three years ago his perceptions on life was turned upside down after filming aboard a Greenpeace ship. The film "The Deadline" traced the horrific business of fishing along the African coast and how stolen pirated fish is smuggled to the plates of European consumers without their knowledge. He realised this is not the only ecological deadling the world is facing and in response founded The Lifeline. On the 9th September 2009 The Lifeline was launched in New York, Byron Bay and London. Its mission is to send three teams of three filmmakers to document positive sustainable solutions that are happening all over the world and collect them into a digital ark for all humankind to share. The purpose is to provide an alternative vision and a build a support network to accelerate the process to a more sustainable future.

Merlyn Peters - Spirituality for the rehabilitation of ecology and religion
Especially looking at the roots of Christianity and the modern environmental movement in relation to how both social phenomenona are denominated by a spirituality of the land and the role of individuals in maintaing our landscapes.
I am a Masters student in ecotheology which reciprocally feeds into my daily working lifestyle and environmental project management. I am a practising permaculturist for which I live and breathe, albeit I consider myself a pioneer and innovator and thus able to take the movement forward to reach a greater number of nations. I teach and run related courses on aspects of food growing and landscape design. I am also a competent singer/songwriter who's lyrics reflect the ecletic nature of my philosophy.

Chris Kennett - The History of transport fuels and why the world is monopolised by the petrochemical industry
A brief history of the fuels that have been used through time. Fuels that are available now and fuels of the future. Why veggiepower started converting engines to run on waste veg oil in 2005 and the pros and cons of using plant oils as fuels. It's time to stop causing problems pouring waste vegetable oil down the drain and dumping it in landfill. It can be used as a resource. Please sign his petition to get waste vegetable oil recycled at www.gopetition.com/petitions/waste-vegetable-oil-recycling.html
Chris was one of the original organisers of the Festival of Life. He also coorganises the Portsmouth Green Fair www.portsmouthcan.co.uk/greenfair2009.html and the www.eco-skills celebration.co.uk. In recent years he co-organised the Food of Life festival in Brighton, Funky Raw in Cornwall and the Alternative Technology area at Sunrise, as well as having a part in many other Eco festivals including the Big Green Gathering, the Urban Green Fair, and Buddhafields. Chris is a Trustee and spends some of his valuable time at the www.ecoforest.org sustainable living project in southern Spain where he has helped with many projects. He believes that living without petrochemicals is not only entirely possible it is the only way forward to a sustainable future.

Diana Store - Raw Food - How To - What The Experts All Agree On
This is a presentation of Diana Store's new book: "Raw Food Works", a collection of insightful essays that arose from the principles agreed upon at the International Living Foods Summits, meetings of raw food leaders which took place between 2006 and 2009 at West Palm Beach, Florida. Including contributions from more than twenty of the Summit's attendees as well as other experts in the field - most notably Gabriel Cousens, MD; Victoria Boutenko; David Wolfe; Brian Clement, PhD; Viktoras Kulvinskas; Karen Knowler and Rev. George Malkmus - Raw Food Works explains exactly how and why a diet of RAW FOOD WORKS. Each of the contributing authors is a noted leader in the raw foods field, many of them already bestselling authors or the head of their own institute or center, and each author, after agreeing upon the basic principles, was invited to contribute a chapter relevant to his or her particular expertise. Raw Food Works has been compiled by editor and raw-food enthusiast Diana Store. Originally from the UK, Diana, is now based in Holland where she offers a multitude of services to support others in succeeding with a raw food diet and lifestyle.

Richard Ellis - Love, Healing, Physics and M.E.
We have a left brain (reason, science) and a right brain (intuition, spirituality) which are currently in conflict. However, this is due to errors in physics. By correcting physics and combining the latest developments there with spirituality, vibrational healing and the new metaphysics of Jesus, a new truth is emerging from behind the facade. Subjects discussed will be paradigms, love, spirit, adamantine particles, string theory, the physics of the duality, motion and stillness, the sacred heart, triune trinity or christenergies and wholeness, flower essences amd gem elixirs, vibrational nutritional healing, and applications to past-life trauma, new life, little-known chakras, M.E. or chronic fatigue and the Epstein Barr virus. You will be able to try remedies for love, spirit and adamantine paricles.
Richard Ellis, MA, DPhil has a PhD from Oxford University in elementary particle physics. He has done research into fundamental physics (eg at CERN, 51 papers published) for 20 years and then into complementary "medicine" (physicine) for 20 years together with research into the physics of the duality of matter and spirit. He has made a number of discoveries in physics and has developed a system of vibrational nutritional healing which he calls quantum entropathy or QEP, which has become increasingly successful. It works with a series of different energies from consciousness at the physical levels up to energies above the 24th dimension and so outside the duality. He has developed methods for curing incurable diseases, including past-life trauma. Last autumn he found he had chronic Epstein Barr virus (EBV), which causes M.E. and he developed a treatment for it which has now eliminated the virus from a number of people. When the virus goes the chronic fatigue goes too.
