The 8th Annual Festival of Life - creating a health future - now! Saturday 24th September 2011

Kidzone

11am
Claire Gilbert - Kidzone Co-ordinator, will welcome children and their carers to the Kidzone, and provide continuity throughout the day, with the help of a volunteer at all times, although we must emphasise that this is not a creche. People with children are very welcome to bring things that will make the area comfortable and attractive to children, and generally hang out, to help create a warm space. Look out for some real treats throughout the day, from our talented team of performers, including Claire, who will do a music workshop at 3.30pm.

Tipsy Gipsy aka Curt Ceunen
We welcome to our festival for the first time, Tipsy Gipsy, who is a multi-instrumentalist composer from Bruges (Belgium). He creates his own unique and innovative approach to world fusion music - the creative synthesis of different musical traditions of the world. He has played at festivals and gigs across Europe and is gaining immense popularity. His music can be described as magical, healing, spiritual, touching and inspiring. It stops people in their tracks and makes them listen. He is very enticing and enchanting. He plays on many instruments of the world , sometimes on several at the same time; Hang, Halo, Bells, Didgeridoo, Darbouka, Bodhran, French and Flemish Bagpipes, Futujara, Udu, Cajon, Davul, Low Whistle and the Guitar. He has just returned from the South of France where he played at a Festival and some intimate gigs.

Claire Gilbert - Children's Music Workshop
I will perform (sing and play the guitar) my original songs for young children (and the young at heart) themed mainly about animals and the natural world, healthy vegan eating, good fun and positive living. I will bring a large variety of percussion instruments for children to play and join in with and some fun props and puppets too. We will also move around and dance with scarves/ ribbons and learn about/ try out some different instruments and sounds.
Claire qualified as a nursery nurse in 1991 and has worked with young children for 20 years in many different settings. She now works as an early years music teacher visiting schools and nurseries and running parent and child music groups. She started writing new songs for children with positive themes about healthy eating, various animals and the natural world and some just for fun! She collaborated with good friend and multi instrumentalist Paul Forrest to make the album "Good Natured Music" in November 2009. It features 12 songs (10 original /2 adapted arranged) all played on real acoustic instruments in folk styles from around the world. We wanted to create real music with educational themes that would capture young children's interest as an alternative to the cheaply made synthesised music that's often made for children these days. The album has since been enjoyed by children all over the world!

Milli Moonstone - Voice Magic with Games & Songs
Explore the magical power of your voice through musical games and songs. The movement of the body and the vibration of our own sounds, in harmony with others, will lead us to the aim: to feel connected with ourselves, each other, and the world - and in the process - lets have fun! Welcome to everyone, whether you consider yourself a singer or not.
Milli is a singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist with over 20 years experience. With a strong foundation in Western classical music and a BA in Asian and African music, her studies have progressed into the healing and unifying properties of music; she has recently been certified in Music Therapy at Roehampton Summer School and performs with ecstatic dance band URUBU. She is also deeply inspired by physical forms of expression: as a storytelling yoga and music teacher, actress in soon-to-be-released Hindi movie ì2 Nights in Soul Valleyî (in which her songs also feature) and regular attendee of ecstatic dance sessions, she incorporates aspects of these different areas of expression into her approach.
